Week 14: December 3 Meeting: Pratt Lesson Plan Exchange
Please bring a lesson you used this term to class for a lesson plan exchange and workshop. Post your lesson to our Lesson Plans page on this wiki.
Workshop style
Goal: students will develop and improve library lesson plans in a collaborative workshop setting
Objectives: Students will give and receive constructive criticism
Students will learn to chair a workshop session
Students will discuss classroom practices centered on instruction
Procedure
In small groups, seated in a circle, each student will have a chance to “pitch” their lesson plan to the group and receive feedback from group members. Group members will all have a specific role. One student, the presenter, will describe their lesson plan. Another student sitting directly to the presenter’s right will be the chair of the session, who will run the session. The rest of the participants will listen and provide feedback.
Presenters will describe their lesson for 5 minutes. Chairs will keep time, giving a 1-minute warning. Then, each person will provide feedback to the presenter, stating one thing they liked about the lesson and one suggestion for improvement. These comments will end with the chair. Then the chair will moderate open discussion by calling on people for 10 minutes.
